Deconsolidate accounts
Deconsolidating accounts is the process of splitting apart one or more accounts from customers. The most common use of this is if a customer is getting a consolidated electricity/gas/water bill and asks to received separate bills for each product.
Tip: Note down the customer account(s) you want to deconsolidate.
Go to the account you wish to deconsolidate by clicking on the Services menu, then the Account tab and select Deconsolidate from the Account Actions dropdown list.
Enter the below information into the Deconsolidate Account wizard screen, then save.
- Select an option to deconsolidate accounts.
- Deconsolidate this account only - this is the most commonly used option.
- Move all accounts except the current one.
This process will:
- Create a new customer with the same details as the existing one, and will have a new account number.
- Any contacts will be linked to both customers.
- Any concession cards will be copied to the new customer.
- Close the existing account as at the date it has been billed up to.
- Create a new account from the day after this.
- Move any unbilled read reads to the new account.
Note: This process does not move the balance or any portion of it to the new customer. It will remain on the existing customer.
You cannot deconsolidate accounts with an active smoothpay plan. This must be cancelled first.
