Import MSATS Dayzip
Utilmate is not directly connected to MSATS (Market Settlement and Transfer Solutions), which is operated by AEMO (Australian Energy Market Operator).
However, Utilmate supports the import of MSATS data via a manual process:
- Users can download a single "dayzip" file from the MSATS portal.
- This file can then be imported into Utilmate, allowing access to essential market data without the need for direct system integration.
Why Manual Import is Ideal for Small Retailers
For smaller on-market retailers, establishing a direct connection to MSATS via the SFTP site, achieving AEMO certification, and maintaining compliance with ongoing schema and process changes can be a significant and resource-intensive challenge.
Even AEMO acknowledges the complexity and suggests that smaller participants may be better off avoiding a direct integration.
Utilmate’s support for manual dayzip import offers a simpler, lower-maintenance alternative that still gives small retailers access to the data they need.
Managing MSATS Interactions in Utilmate (Without Direct Integration)
Utilmate enables smaller on-market retailers to manage their MSATS interactions without needing direct system integration. This is achieved through the use of a daily "dayzip" file, downloaded from the MSATS portal.
Download the Dayzip File
Each day (or week), the user downloads their “dayzip” file from the MSATS portal.
- This ZIP file contains all MSATS-related files for that period, including meter data
Upload to Utilmate
The downloaded file is then uploaded into Utilmate using the Import MSATS Dayzip interface. This interface will:
- Extracts all NEM12 and NEM13 meter reading files and places them in:
- Advanced Meter Data Import (for NEM12)
- Basic Meter Data Import (for NEM13)
- Process any notifications relating to:
- Customer switching
- Standing data changes
Monitoring Switches
Any switches in progress (in or out) will be displayed on the Switching Sites screen of the Dashboard, allowing users to monitor and manage them easily.
