Compliance - ESC report
The Essential Services Commission Report is a regulatory requirement for authorised energy retailers in Victoria, Australia. Retailers must submit this report to the ESC every month to meet compliance obligations.
The ESC compliance report can be generated at any time for a specified calendar month, ensuring flexibility in meeting your regulatory deadlines.
There are 2 types of reports:
- Monthly summary compliance report
- Monthly detail compliance report
The report can be run at any time from the Reports menu, Compliance and select Compliance ESC Report.
Summary
The Summary ESC compliance report shows all the applicable Reporting Indicator, Reference, Description, Reporting Group, State and Total/Average.
Enter a date range of a calendar month and then Run or Save to MyReports.
Detail
The Detailed ESC Compliance Report includes all the columns found in the Summary Report, with the addition of customer-specific details. This report serves as a customer-level listing, providing further granularity for auditing or submission purposes.
Additional columns included in the Detailed Report:
- Account Number
- Account Name
- Sales Customer Number
- Site Identifier
- Account Total/Average
This level of detail supports transparency and compliance when reporting to the Essential Services Commission (ESC).
Enter a date range of a calendar month, tick Detail Report and then Run or Save to MyReports.
Note: While the ESC Compliance Report defaults to Victoria, it can be run for all Australian states if needed. To include all states (including Victoria) in the report output, tick the All States checkbox.
This allows flexibility for organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions while still maintaining compliance with Victoria’s reporting requirements.
Report details
Each report contains an extensive list of reporting categories defined by the ESC. These are based on the actions of users and field values in Utilmate as detailed in the documentation spreadsheet attached.
