Linking and unlinking contacts
When a new customer account is created (by interface, MyAccount or in the CRM), Utilmate will see if the contact already exists by matching on name, date of birth, email, and phone number. If the contact is found instead of creating another contact of the same name, it links the new customer account to the existing contact.
Note: This allows the contact to see both of their accounts when logging into the MyAccount portal.
For a number of reasons contacts need to be linked so that they can see other accounts in the MyAccount or unlinked so they can't see both accounts in the MyAccount
Link Accounts
Locate the contact and go to the Contacts, Details menu, Linked Customers tab then click on Link to Another Customer button.
Enter the customer account number you want to link.
Click on Save to link customer accounts. A confirmation page will be displayed.
Unlink Accounts
Locate the contact and go to the Contacts, Details menu, Linked Customers tab then click on Unlink from Other Customers.
Select Yes to unlink and save. A confirmation page will be displayed.
