Timing Profiles - add or edit
In the electricity sector, Timing Profiles specify the specific times and days on which different electricity tariff rates apply. They are commonly used for Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing, where electricity costs vary depending on when energy is consumed.
Timing Profiles determine:
Peak periods – when demand is highest and rates are more expensive
Off-peak periods – lower demand times with cheaper rates
Shoulder periods – mid-range pricing between peak and off-peak
Special schedules such as controlled load, weekends, public holidays, or seasonal tariffs
For example, a Timing Profile might define:
Peak: Weekdays 3pm–9pm
Shoulder: Weekdays 7am–3pm and 9pm–10pm
Off-Peak: 10pm–7am daily
These profiles are linked to pricing plans and meters to ensure customers are billed the correct rate based on when electricity is used. Timing Profiles are especially important for smart meters, solar tariffs, controlled loads, and demand-based pricing structures.
